UNC Charlotte is a rapidly growing university with almost 30,000 students from diverse backgrounds. This diversity includes culture, knowledge background, and also students who live with a disability. At UNC Charlotte we are committed to providing equality of educational opportunity and ensuring accessible education to all students. This series focuses on Universal Design and how full accessibility benefits students with disabilities and adds quality to your course. The series consists of small Universal Design instructional topics. Each will be presented in 10 to 15 minutes followed by a Q&A session. Participants can email their electronic content to discuss their accessibility during the Q&A session. Electronic content can be a web page, PDF file, Word file, Canvas Course, … etc.
Objectives of Session 3:
• Define the basics of captions and the captioning process.
• Differentiate between captions as an accommodation and as a form of accessibility.
• Recognize captioned media as a component of Universal Design.
